Intimacy, Connection and a whole lotta Love.
tips to prepare for my adventure session:
As you prepare for your upcoming couples session, you might be wondering what to wear or if you need to bring anything along. To help prepare you, I’ve written out some tips on the most frequently asked questions that I typically receive before a couples outdoor photo session!
What should we wear?
For outdoor sessions couples have the option to bring a second outfit if they would like. In this case I would suggest one outfit being more formal and the other being a more casual day-to-day outfit. For example, a dress shirt and nice pants for the guy, and a long flowing dress for the lady. Note: Long dresses capture a lot of movement and can make for more dynamic images, especially if it’s a windy day! An example of a more casual outfit could be anything from jeans and a nice t-shirt, to cozy cardigans, sweaters, nice jackets, or if it’s summer, ladies feel free to break out your cutest skirts, rompers, or overalls!
If fancy isn’t your thing, one casual outfit is just fine as well. Same goes for if you want all your images to be more formal, which is more typical for engagement sessions!
Accessories like hats, simple jewelry or scarves are good as well! When choosing outfits, try picking two or three colours that compliment each other to mix and match between both of your outfits. If one wears something patterned (ex. flannel, floral, striped) I’d recommend a more solid coloured outfit for the other. *Try and avoid bright neon colours- these can often reflect colour onto your face making your skin tone look very blah!!
Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel confident and like yourself! The focus is capturing your connection with your partner, your outfits just help tell the story. :)
Is there anything I need to bring?
Typically I suggest that couples bring a blanket that coordinates with their outfits- especially if it is winter or cold out. (However if you forget or don’t have anything that coordinates, I always have a stash of blankets with me, and they have yet to fail me!)
If you have any pets they are always welcome to be a part of the photo session, after all, they are part of the family!
Otherwise unless you have anything of significance that you’d like to incorporate into your photo session, just bring you, your partner and your love for each other along!
Music
Prepare a playlist of your favourite music to add some fun ambiance to your session! (Dance parties and singing off-key are ALWAYS encouraged!)
Location
One of the BIGGEST questions I get asked when planning a session with a couple is “Where should we do our photoshoot??” First, I’d recommend going somewhere that has a lot of significance to you- perhaps a favorite river valley park, or the mountains if you have a favorite trail or waterfall to hike to together. However, if nothing comes to mind, don’t worry! I’ve got a whole list of beautiful locations- scouted by yours truly, ready to go! Just give me the vibe you’re going for, and I’ll find the perfect place for the adventure session of your dreams!
P.S. If you are planning a trip with your hunny to another country, and you are wanting your adventure session to be a part of your travels, you can bet that I’ll be there in a heart beat!! <3
