Matt & Elizabeth
“Love bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things,
endures all things. Love never ends.”
1 Corinthians 13:7
Matt & Elizabeth were supposed to be my last wedding of 2020, and now, they are going to be one of my last weddings for 2021! 2020 definitely put a good chunk us of through the wringer, but today I want to reflect on my strong, beautiful couples, like Matt and Elizabeth, and take a moment to acknowledge their love. It was literally the week before their wedding day when we all heard the news here in Alberta that the 50 person limit got dropped to 14 - AGAIN. All the details had been finalized and we were finally soo close- and then this happened. Now, I can’t even begin to imagine how tough facing this reality as a bride must be, but a piece of my heart definitely broke for these two upon hearing the news. They were faced with a tough decision: either they cut down their guest list for the how-manyeth time, or they could postpone in hopes of at least having a majority of their loved ones present. This was a big sacrifice to make, but they did it for their love.
Much like the intense cold winds during their Canmore engagement session- these two and their love have weathered 2020 together, and that in itself says so much about the power of love! Liz, your resilience, grace, and reframed positive outlook while facing every obstacle and every little change that came your way is truly so admirable. I’m praying that 2021 will only bring yours and Matt’s love closer together, and that we get to celebrate your love this year, with the family you envisioned to be surrounding you.
To my 2021 Brides:
Stay strong, stay hopeful, and continue to rest in this truth: love endures ALL things.
I cannot stress enough that in these situations you have to do what’s best for YOUR love, and that will look differently for each couple. For some, this means scaling back guests, cutting out distractions, and really focusing on their intimate relationship as soon-to-be husband and wife, and for others, it means waiting until you can have that community present who shaped you and your significant other to truly celebrate how far you’ve come as individuals, and where you will go together as a couple. BOTH OPTIONS ARE BEAUTIFUL WAYS TO CELEBRATE LOVE!!! Stay true to your heart and do what’s best for you. <3
Also please remember, if you ever need anyone to chat to, that I am here for you, not just to take photos, but to support you in the months coming up to your wedding.
So let’s choose to do 2021 together. Virtually. (until restrictions lift again) One day at a time, in anticipation for when we finally get to celebrate your love in person!
