“Justin and I met through his younger sister Nakayla. Nakayla became my best friend over our time spent in New Zealand together in 2017. The three of us spent a lot of time together once I moved to Edmonton in 2018. Justin asked me out to dinner May 2019 (without telling me it was a date), I thought we were just two friends hanging out. Two days later I asked if it was a date and he said yes. He said he felt there was something more between us.

I had always had a small crush on him but never thought of pursuing him. We spent all of summer 2019 dating and I fell in love with him fast. I knew he was the one for me. He told me he loved me in June 2019 and I responded that I loved him too. We always knew that if we were to date we would have to be all in. In November we had planned a day trip to Jasper. However the day of Nakayla got into a horrible farm accident. I told her I was cancelling the trip but she insisted we keep our plans.

Justin proposed that Saturday November 23 in Jasper on Pyramid Island. It was lightly snowing and we were completely alone. I was so stunned that I asked him “are you serious”. He said yes and asked me again and I said yes. We spent the whole day in jasper together before coming home and telling our families.

Every day I fall more in love with him. He is truly the man God had planned for me. I marvel at all the paths we took that led us to one another. Despite hardships we grow closer to each other and God. I know that with all the uncertainties in the world, Justin is a constant for me. The best part is knowing that we are friends first. He became a true friend before we ever dated and now I get to marry my best friend.”
